                                     OROVILLE RESPITE PROGRAM

The Oroville Respite Program, a new service provided in Oroville by the Peg Taylor Center for Adult Day Health Care is now open. The Oroville Respite Program offers care and activities on Mondays for adults with Alzheimer's Disease or related dementias who are mildly to moderately impaired.

Remaining active is key to the on-going health of older adults with dementia.  The Oroville Respite Program is designed to help participants to remain as active and independent as possible, while providing a safe, supervised setting.  Located in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2350 Foothill Boulevard in Oroville, the program features individualized activities and care and a warm, cheerful atmosphere.

"Getting out and being with others is an important part of life," explains Cori Miller, Program Coordinator. "This gets hard to do once people develop a serious illness like Alzheimer's Disease." The goal of the Oroville Respite Program is to make it easier for caregivers to help their loved ones continue to enjoy life.  In addition, caregivers can get other necessary tasks accomplished, knowing their loved ones are well cared for during the program day.

The staff for the Oroville Respite program is trained and experienced in the care of adults with serious health problems, including Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of dementia.

For those attending the Oroville Respite Program, the cost is based on a sliding fee schedule designed to be affordable for families. Scholarships are available for those who need further assistance, and visits can also be scheduled at other times for caregivers who are unableto attend the Open House, or who would like to get to know the program further. The Oroville Respite Program is being provided with the assistance of a grant from a national foundation and donations to match this grant are welcome.
